I'm not big on reviews of any kind but I gotta admit I really had a lot of fun with TV weekend. Particularly Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Netflix premiered The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. The puppeteer and animation were amazing. It was like stepping right back into that world with better lenses. The story telling was the same way. Now that we have more of the world fleshed out. We get to see all the underpinnings of what would lead to The Dark Crystal film. Loved it.
The next mind blowing show was Carnival Row. As a huge fan of Penny Dreadful,The Frankenstein Chronicles and Ripper Street this show really does it for me so far. It hits all the right beats. Racism, Class ism, Religion, War and Victorian Era politics, all in a supernatural What If world where the Fae are war refugees. I love when the real world can be viewed through the lenses of fantasy and this show does a great job so far in this area and the area of not letting the fantastic world take you out of the humanity necessary to sell such a story on a deeper lever. I hope this show gets rave reviews. So far it deserves it.
